Eastern Europe & CIS — The Emerging iGaming Event Hub
Tbilisi, Bucharest, Riga, Sofia — Eastern Europe is becoming a major iGaming conference destination. Here's what's happening and why it matters.
The iGaming event circuit has traditionally centered on London, Malta, and Lisbon. But Eastern Europe and the CIS region are rapidly emerging as a third conference hub, driven by growing local markets and lower event costs.
Tbilisi, Georgia — The Rising Star
SBC Summit Tbilisi has become the anchor event for the region. The 2025 edition attracted 2,000+ delegates from 44 countries, with 40+ exhibitors. The 2026 edition (July 15–16, Sheraton Grand Tbilisi Metechi Palace) is expected to welcome 2,500+ attendees.
Why Tbilisi? Georgia offers a business-friendly environment, no visa requirements for most nationalities, affordable operating costs, and a strategic position between Europe and Central Asia. The city's nightlife and food scene don't hurt either.
Bucharest & Sofia — Regulatory Hubs
Romania and Bulgaria have established, regulated iGaming markets. The BEGE Expo (Balkans Entertainment & Gaming Expo) in Sofia and the Bucharest Gaming Summit attract operators focused on Balkan and Southeastern European markets. These are smaller, more focused events — 1,000–2,000 attendees — but with high-quality operator representation.
Riga, Latvia — The Baltic Gateway
Hipther's Baltic conferences in Riga serve the Latvian, Lithuanian, and Estonian markets. The Baltic states have progressive gambling regulation and a growing tech talent pool.
Prague — Tech Meets Gaming
The Prague Gaming & Tech Summit (organized by Hipther) positions itself at the intersection of technology and gambling. Prague's established tech ecosystem and central European location make it a natural fit.
Why Eastern Europe Matters
Three reasons: (1) lower event costs — a booth at BEGE costs a fraction of ICE Barcelona, (2) direct access to operators in growing regulated markets, (3) less competition for attention — at ICE you're one of 600 exhibitors; in Sofia you're one of 50.
